Shadow Art
This week we are going to practice our tracing by drawing the outline of shadows! Shadows are the dark shapes made when something blocks light from a light source like the sun, a flashlight, or a campfire.
This week set up some small toys on a piece of paper so the shadow hits the paper. Take a pencil and trace the shadows. Then remove the toy and color it in! Try to do this 3 times!
Materials: paper, pencil, something to color with, and small toys or objects.
First Grade
This week we're going to do something a little different and you are going to watch a video with of one of my FAVORITE art teachers. She has a whole video on how to make this project.
First get your materials and then play the video and follow along. You can pause it at any time if she goes too fast for you.
If you don't have the materials she has, just do your best with what you have to make your castle!

Line Robots Self PortraitsThis week we are going to practice drawing using different lines by drawing robots that look like us! A self portrait is a drawing of yourself. Now imagine what you would look like as a robot! You can draw your robot self however you want and using whatever you want. But you need to include at least 4 different kinds of lines in your drawing from the chart below!
Materials: white paper, a pencil, coloring tools (crayons, markers, etc.)
Look at all of these robots how many differnt kinds of lines do you see?
To draw a robot you can use the robots on the worksheet as inspiration! Try not to just copy.
Remember your robot should look like you! So add your favorite designs. Make the eyes the same color as yours. Add your hair style. Make it you! Remember to use at least 4 types of lines from the chart above! Once you have your robot drawn, make sure to color it in! |
Fourth Grade
Shoe Designer
This week you are going to be shoe designers! There are many jobs that are related to art. A designer is someone who decides what clothes, shoes, and all sorts of things look like. This week I want you to design a pair of shoes you wish existed! You can use the outline of a shoe that already exists (like Vans, Nike, or Converse). Or you can create your own!
Please draw 2 shoes! After all they come in pairs! And be original.
You may redraw the outline of the shoes below. But please do not print them out and just color it in.
Materials: Paper and something to color with!
You can draw your favorite characters from a movie or TV show! Or make yours based off of your favorites sports team. Or you can do something more abstract.
Fifth Grade

Week 8
We are in the last few days of the school year and Fathers Day is just around the corner. I have provided a few links to help you make a card for the people in your life that you would like to give some attention to. This is also the time of the year that we have been looking forward to since September! Summer! So I have a challenge activity for you. Using what you have learned in Art this year, make some art that shows what you would like to do during the summer months. Do you lie to play outside? Do you want to learn how to ride a bike or go on a trip? What would it look like if you got to plan your summer? You can create the perfect amusement park with fun water slides. You can create the perfect camping trip. Maybe you look forward to playing summer sports. Where would you like to play? Draw a picture of the park, game field or stadium where you dream of playing. Or you could create a paper sculpture of this summer dream destination. Whatever your dreams or plans, My wish for you is that you have the best summer! And, I look forward to seeing what you make and hearing about your adventures this summer!
