In this unit we will learn about perspective. One point perspective occurs when all of the diagonal lines either in artwork or in an environment point to a single spot or as you will learn to call it the vanishing point. Use the links and the handout to begin one point perspective. Whether you are walking down a hall or a street, all of the horizontal lines that make up buildings and hallways actually appear as a very subtle diagonal line unless you are directly facing them. The first link for Artyfactory has additional links near the bottom of the page that cover topics of perspective and interrelated sub-topics like aerial perspective, eye level and the picture plane. Be sure to read the text and scroll over the images to reveal more information. The second link (Olejarz interactive) has an interactive exercise on how to build components of a room in one point perspective.
